Well, hello August. If I’m being honest, I’d have to say that August is my least favorite month. We go back to school and we’re never ready. It’s SO hot here. So hot. But…BUT…we do celebrate the birthday of two of my favorite fellas, so I guess it evens out. One of those fellas will celebrate his 40th birthday and the other will turn 14…and start high school. Sniff. Sniff.
(Excuse me while I talk to myself for a second. Stay on task woman. We’re here to talk about the August menu plan, not the fact that your oldest son is starting high school and your husband is turning 40. Menu plans. Focus woman.)
Okay, I’m back. With school starting back, having a plan is more important than ever. I really am my best self in August. While I mourn the start of school, I can really rock a routine. So, let’s get started with this month’s menu plan. Save time and money and sanity with me.
(Psst…did you know you can sign up here to print your very own FREE menu plan?)
During the school year, I have 3-4 breakfast options in the fridge each week and everyone heats up their own breakfast.
Then, on the weekends I’ll make something quick and easy.
Lunch will be pretty simple this month since the kiddos will be at school. I try to have something light and cool. Remember the comment above about the temperatures in August?!?
BLT Salad (This is just lettuce, cheese, avocado, bacon, and homemade ranch…perfection in a salad.)
Turkey Sausage, cheese, pickles, crackers
Fred’s Chicken Sandwiches (These involve good rolls, grilled chicken, cheese slices, bacon, and spicy mayo.)
Spinach Ravioli (from Costco)
Cajun Shrimp Pasta
Grilled Chicken Wings
Chicken and Black Bean Nachos
Here’s what I’m filling my freezer with and adding to my menu plan:

Are you new to menu planning? This video clip below shows you how to plan for the month and think through your menu. By planning your menu (and sticking to it!!!) you will save time and money…I promise!
Want someone to do the planning for you?? My friend, Laura, over at Heavenly Homemakers will do just that! For $1 a week, she will email you her plan, Simple Meals. Does it get any simpler?? I think not.
PS-By using the code, SIMPLE10, you will receive $10 off of the year, making the cost less than $1 per week. How lovely, right?!?

You are the month where I am my best self even though I dread the heat and going back to school. Please don’t be too hot. I guess we’ll take the good with the bad and just focus on the good.
