We are early birds around here. My mother tells me I can accomplish more before 9:30 am than most people accomplish in a day. I don’t know if she’s correct, but we do get a lot done. Our feet hit the ground running on most days. The other day I had an idea about cleaning my house by zones. I contemplated ideas on actually how to accomplish the task. Should I take them outside? Should I do it inside? What about them drying? Will I break them? How in the world do you even get the suckers down? Then all of the sudden it hit me. Dip them in the bathroom tub and then lay them on a towel to dry in your bathroom floor. I’m a genius. Just a year too late.
So at 6:37 am Wednesday morning I figured out how to take the blinds down. I would have started at 6:31 am, but “Mrs. I am a genius”, as mentioned above, had to study to blinds for 6 minutes before I could figure out how to take them down. Once I got them down I asked my oldest son to come in and be the photographer. He had strict instructions not to get me in any of the pictures. He did not succeed. But that’s okay. I’ll still keep him. I put in too much work from age 18 months to 4 to let him go.
I filled up the tub with water, a little bit of vinegar, and a small drop of Dawn, and dipped them in several times. Don’t judge my elbow. It was early in the morning.
I’m swishing the blinds here. Then I just laid them out to dry on a towel in my bathroom floor. While the blinds were down I took the opportunity to clean the windows. Once the window was clean I hung the semi dry blinds back up.
Now I walk past the blinds and look at them with great pride. I also shake my head that it took me over a year to get on this project.
