This has been a crazy week for us. We were out of school last Friday for snow. We had a long weekend because we were out of school on Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. And then, snow came again Tuesday and we’ve been out of school since then. My children have not been to school in a week. I have consumed more Homemade Hot Chocolate than I care to admit and a routine is begging our names. Amidst all the chaos and hot chocolate (grin), I’ve been thankful for my menu plan and freezer meals. We have had the best time, but all good things must come to an end. These kiddos are going to school tomorrow! I know their teachers have missed them. Wink.
Freezer cooking is one of my favorite things. In fact, my Freezer Cooking Club met last Saturday so now my freezer is full of great meals I can just thaw, cook and serve. Could anything be more wonderful? Except for one thing…last week my menu plan had Bolognese Sauce on Sunday. I was all ready for this. I pulled it out of the freezer, thawed it, and then Sunday morning I dumped it in my slow cooker before I left for church. When I put it in my slow cooker I thought it looked funny. What I thought was Bolognese Sauce was actually Super Sloppy Joes. Whoops. All of this could have been prevented had I just printed my friend Emily’s Freezer Meal Labels. Hop on over and grab your copy. Maybe you’ll thaw the right thing when you look at your menu plan.
It’s that time of the week again, where we plan our menu, write a grocery list, and set ourselves up for success, right? Well, I guess it’s always good to have goals. This week’s menu plan will help you save money, eat healthy, and stay focused. I hope you are able to grab a few ideas and plan along.
Here we sit at the beginning of a new year. Otherwise known as at my house as get back in a routine. There will be no more Boiled Custard or Homemade Cinnamon Rolls or Chex Mix or Macaroni and Cheese. Bummer. All good things must come to an end.
For the last little bit, I’ve been posting a monthly menu plan. But this year, I’m trying something new. I’m going to start posting a menu plan each week. I’m hoping this will help me stay a little more organized and a little more on budget. We’ll be eating at least once a week off of the 25+ Budget Friendly Dinner Ideas. Everything will stay pretty simple. Here goes…
Hello February. How did you get here? Were we not just in the Christmas season…shopping, wrapping, eating, spending time with family, no school…it’s all a distant memory. Sniff. Sniff. So, here we are looking down at, not January, but February. February. But, I’m not sad. I love February! It’s full of all things fun like chocolate and love and date nights and sweet boys that love their mom. Yep, welcome February!
Once again, I’m going to plan my menus. Grab your calendar below and let’s plan together!
Well, it’s almost 2017. Welcome to January. Otherwise known at our house as:
Throw out all the carbs, eat eggs for breakfast instead of cake, snack on fruits and veggies instead of peanut brittle and Chex Mix, drink more water, and get back into a routine.
Yes, welcome January. I really do love a fresh start. I’m not one for resolutions, but I do enjoy a new beginning. In fact, I feel like I’m my best self in August and January…so here goes nothing! What about you? Do you enjoy January? Are you setting any resolutions or making any changes? (If you are, might I suggest Grace Goals??)
