Man, I love November. The weather has finally cooled down a bit…finally!…and at the end of this month we will celebrate Thanksgiving, which is my favorite of all holidays. I mean, Thanksgiving is really the best. There is no pressure for gifts or extra gatherings. It’s just family and friends around a table enjoying each other and being reflective and thankful. Does anyone else feel this way about Thanksgiving? I will go into December with my heels in the ground.
Welcome Fall! Our first day of fall was hot. I mean, like high in the upper 80’s hot…not like fall at all. That’s okay though, because by the time this month is over the temperatures will be perfectly lovely or at least in the 70’s. I’ve decorated for fall and I’ve even eaten soup. The outside temperatures will not keep me down. No they will not. When you live in the South, Fall is a season you feel in your heart.
Well, we’ve blinked and it’s September. September is always a tricky month for me. It’s technically time for fall, but the weather in my neck of the woods stays confused for the entire month. This is what I’m going to tell you though…I don’t care if it’s 95 degrees outside still. I will have Morning Motivated Mom’s Pumpkin Bread and I will decorate my house for fall. Yes, I will. Heck, I may even eat the Pumpkin Bread while decorating my house. Well, that’s winning all the way around.
Before I decorate for fall and eat Pumpkin Bread, I’m going to take a few brief moments and look at some options for my menu plan. I hope you’ll plan along with me. It saves time, money, and sanity. Grab some ideas below and plan with me!
Well, hello August. If I’m being honest, I’d have to say that August is my least favorite month. We go back to school and we’re never ready. It’s SO hot here. So hot. But…BUT…we do celebrate the birthday of two of my favorite fellas, so I guess it evens out. One of those fellas will celebrate his 40th birthday and the other will turn 14…and start high school. Sniff. Sniff. [Read more…]
Where has June gone?!? I feel like I say this every month, but really I can tell you where it’s gone: Vacation Bible School, Little Kids Camp, soccer camp, basketball practice, basketball games, haircuts, dentist appointments, etc. Basically I’ve spent the month of June as a glorified taxi driver. Anybody else?!?
Seriously though, I wouldn’t have it any other way. With one entering into high school and morphing into a man, I’m daily reminded that these days are fleeting. July promises to be much of the same, but with a few family getaways that I’m really looking forward to. Oh, and family pictures…but we’ll keep that between us. Our boys will NOT be thrilled with family pictures. Onward to this month’s menu plan…
Well…we made it through May. Barely. School is out now…Hallelujah! We are gearing up for a GREAT summer around here. I sure hope you are as well. There are camps to attend, Vacation Bible Schools to plan, pools to swim in, family to visit, and so much more. We LOVE summer around here!
With three boys around this house we are constantly looking for ways to instill life skills, character, and the ability to function in the world, which is why we have the boys help around our house. One area that I realized I’ve dropped the ball with is cooking. For whatever reason, it just always seems simpler for me to just cook supper. So, last month I decided to issue a challenge to our older two boys. They were given the task of planning the menu, cooking the meal, and cleaning up the kitchen after dinner. I’m pleased to report that our oldest has completed the task. (Our middle son will have his chance next week, but as I’m writing this he has not gone yet.)
