We love a smoothie around here! I really want this blender, but for now we just use a simple Black and Decker number. We’re cool like that. Every time I go to Costco and they are demonstrating the VitaMix blender I stand there mesmerized like I don’t have anything else to do. I almost drool. We are saving for one and I’m sure some anniversary or Valentine’s day we’ll spring for one and call it a day, but in the mean time we’ll keep using our Black and Decker blender…it gets the job done…but for crying out loud when they use the fancy one I’ve seen them make ice cream, soup, AND smoothies with the fancy mixer at Costco. (First world problem anyone?!?)
Back to the smoothie…this one is one of our favorites. We have used strawberries, but really you could use any fruit. When peaches are in season I can’t wait to use them in this recipe. You can make this recipe for one or you can fill up your blender for the entire family.
For one smoothie we put this in a glass cup (as shown above) and use an immersion blender. It works for just one:
1/4 c. Greek Yogurt
1 T. honey
3/4 c. milk (We’ve been using Cashew milk lately, but you could use any kind of milk that you like.)
3-4 ice cubes
1/2 t. vanilla (We make our own by using this recipe.)
Use the immersion blender to blend it all together. Yum!
If you want to make it for more people just adjust the amounts accordingly. This makes a really big glass and two of my children could share this. As I mentioned above you could add any fruit that you like: blueberries, pineapple, bananas, raspberries, peaches, etc.
Hope you like it as much as we do!
