Well, hello winter. I’m in the Southeastern part of the U.S. so winters are pretty mild, but today the high was in the mid 20’s and the rest of the week the temperatures are continuing to drop. I know some of you reading this in the Northern parts of the country are rolling your eyes, but to me, that is cold. I don’t want to leave the comfort of my home. I want to go to bed at 6:00 pm. I want to sit by the fire and work a puzzle and eat soup and cookies and drink hot chocolate. Anybody else with me? I sure hope so.
If you, like me, want to embrace winter for all its worth, here’s a list of a few must haves that will help us push through until we can bring out our flip flops.
The Mountain Between Us by Charles Martin is a good winter read. Snuggle up with a blanket, a warm drink, and a roaring fireplace. You will love this one.
My hands get super dry in the winter. I especially notice it when I am folding laundry, which I do all.the.time. This CeraVe Renewing Cream is the best I’ve found. The best.
I’m not here to talk to you about the merits of essential oils. There are plenty of people that can preach that, it’s just not going to be me. I LOVE the smell of cinnamon in the winter though. I put this on my vacuum cleaner so each time I use it it spreads the scent through my house. Love it!
I love, love, love a wrap. They are perfect with some jeans, pants, or a dress. You can dress it up or make it casual. But do you know what I love about it the most? It keeps you warm. A wrap is SO cozy. As a matter of fact, wear this when you are reading the above mentioned book.
You can bet your bottom dollar that our house will have some sort of comfort food at least twice a week. This Tomato Basil Soup is a go-to recipe. It is simple and it is delicious. What more could you want?!?

We love a good puzzle around here. A 500 Piece Charles Wysocki Puzzle is perfect for a lazy, snowy day.
We go to bed pretty early in the winter since it gets so dark so early, but it’s not unusual for us to play a couple of games right after dinner. Mancala is a family favorite. You play it with just two people. So while three of us are cleaning the kitchen, two people can play. Then the winner keeps playing…extra incentive to keep winning. Left Right Center involves a big group, which is nice for a family of five. You can add as many people as you like with Left Right Center.
In the winter, my hair feels very dry. BioSilk Silk Therapy is the best thing ever. You use just a very, very small amount, but it keeps my hair shiny and static free.
My brother and sister in law get giddy over putting flannel sheets on their bed. They love the feel and warmth of these sheets. From the looks of the forecast it’s going to be a cold winter. If you’ve never tried them, this might be your year.
Hot Chocolate? Made in a Slow Cooker? Yes please! Everyone needs a go-to hot chocolate recipe. With three simple ingredients, you can whip this up in no time. Put it on when the kiddos go out to play in the snow and it will be ready when they come in. Goodness in a mug!
There’s my list of Winter Must Haves. What about you?!? What do you like in the winter?!?
